You visited doctorfill.com and something piqued your interest about the way it looked or how it worked. So, you looked at my link on the bottom and arrived here. I hope your impression was a good one because A Packaging System is a great company and client. Doctorfill.com was designed specifically to generate sales leads for their terrific filling machines.

When the project started, there were certain criteria that the site had to meet:

  • It had to be search engine friendly to maximize the "organic" search capability.
  • It had to be flexible enough to easily grow and evolve as new equipment categories became available.
  • It had to be easy to add new products with nothing more than normal word processing skills.
  • It couldn't cost an arm and leg and had to be up and running in a few weeks.
  • And, it had to look different from their other sites and their competitors.

Since you just came from there, you saw that there are a ton of products and they are easy to find. It’s reasonably fast, even on a shared server. To save both time and money, it was developed using an open source platform. That gave us plenty of power with a minimum of custom programming. And maybe you noticed some of the interesting features like the videos embedded in the descriptive copy of many of the products. An interesting fact is that doctorfill.com shares a database and operates off of the same base programming as their apackaging.net web site. That sure saved a lot of time in the initial development and when new filling machines are added to one site, the other site is updates as well. That also saves time in maintenance and upgrades.
